Nice piece on "Silence"

Recently I came across a book "In the sphere of Silence" by vijay eswaran. It is a very interesting read.
Till then I had my own doubts about the adage"Speech is silver,Silence is Golden"...But after I went throught the book I was convinced that silence is indeed Golden.Eventhough one cannot live without communicating with anyone, most of the problems in life can be avoided or reduced by not speaking.
There is a concept called "Negative Policy Making"...where you remain silent on certain issues instead of taking action...this is said to be successful. This can be applied to our Life also

Silence usually works when things are too tivial or the outcome is not very important to you, but at other times, unless you voice your opinion, things will never happen your way.

This is coming from a person who is known for silence;)

Whatever vijay eswaran said seemed true and I connected that with my own experience but now what you say also seems true.
It definitely surprises me to find this comment from a silent person like u:)

'Silence' may not only refer to keeping quiet but also to stilling the thoughts so that the mind is calm.

onga levele tani...That is difficult but if it is done, then nothing like it.
But I doubt whether anybody other than yogis and saints have been able to do that.

mam,i perfectly agree with this idea.i have tried it a couple of times and must says it really works wonders.."a clever person tries to win an arguement wise tries to avoid it" is what i follow these days..

That's right Pradeepa, Silence is definitely a very good tool to win arguments and at the same time avoid one.
